Now that I’ve got most of the libempathy and libempathy-gtk functions I need working as python bindings I’ve finally been able to get on with some fun hacking on Jokosher itself. A user’s contacts (managed by Telepathy’s Mission Control) are now offered as possible instruments which can be added to a project:
Next I’ll see about fixing some problems with the python bindings so that the avatar pixbuf generation works correctly, rather than just assigning everyone with a generic avatar.
I wouldn’t like having all my 70+ contacts in that list.
Would it be better to just add a “Guest” (

mike – Ben’s suggested adding a drop down filter option to the dialog, so you can select whether to show just normal instruments or network instruments; I think I might extend that idea further to implement any contact groups you have setup, so you could just display users in your “Friends” group, or in your “Podcast” group or similar.
François – Yep, that’s one of the main use cases envisioned for this feature. So you can record remote presenters or guests over VoIP (or PSTN if your VoIP provider offers a PSTN gateway).
